Nepal's 'trekking peaks' — Mera, Island, Mardi, Yala — are 5,800–6,500 metre summits that require no prior mountaineering experience, just patience, lungs and a good guide.

This is the doorway to the sport of alpinism, and we run it like a school: instruction, acclimatisation, summit.

SCHOOL

Base camp is a classroom. Your guide teaches crampon technique, rope travel, and self-arrest on a safe slope until it is muscle memory.

SUMMIT DAY

You leave at 02:00 under headtorch, following a rope through the blue hour into sunrise. The last 100 vertical metres take an hour and a day simultaneously.

THE TOP

And then there is nothing above you. For the first time in your life, the sky has a far side, and you are standing on the border of it.
